A helicopter has crashed at Oba Akran Avenue, in Ikeja area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, emergency responders have reported.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu told PM NEWS that that the helicopter crash-landed in front of the United Bank of Africa office.

He said two persons including the pilot had been rescued alive.

In his words: “The agency has activated its disaster response plan to the above incident which occurred around 1600hrs.

“The helicopter registered 5NCCQ was finally confirmed to contain 2 passengers and it has been safely removed from the road which is now free for vehicular movement.

“All two casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to hospital for further care.

“The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident. All Emergency Responders are on scene.”

Osanyintolu later said the accidented helicopter was evacuated from the scene around 5:30pm.

“All Emergency Responders are now departing the scene. Further investigation to be carried out by NCAA,” he added.
