Barr. Ahmad Usman- El Marzuq: resigned as APC National Legal secretary

Ahmed El-Marzuq, the National Legal Adviser of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday resigned as member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

El-Marzuq resigned few hours after the emergence of former Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman of APC at the 12th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party.

He attributed his resignation to the election of Ganduje and ex- spokesperson of the Senate Ajibola Basiru; as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the party respectively.

The outgoing national legal adviser said his resignation will allow for reconfiguration of the National Working Committee, NWC, of APC following emergence of new chairman and secretary for the party.

El-Marzuq said this in a statement issued on his behalf by AbdulHalim Adamu, his national adviser.

He said, “In light of the recent developments within our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), with the emergence of His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Ajibola Basiru as National Chairman and National Secretary and the reconfiguration of party offices for national cohesion and adequate regional representation, the National Legal Adviser found it pertinent that he resigns his position within the party to allow for a smooth reconfiguration of the party’s leadership.”

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and other party officials for the “opportunity” to serve.
