Just In: Ganduje emerges APC National Chairman, Basiru as Secretary

Former Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and spokesperson of the 9th Senate, Ajibola Basiru, were on Thursday elected as the National Chairman and Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC respectively.

They were elected at the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The election of Ganduje and Sen. Basiru followed resignation of Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore as the National Chairman and Secretary of APC some weeks ago.

Senator Kyari announced the NEC decision to confirm Ganduje and Basiru as the National Chairman and Secretary of APC to journalists after the executive session of of the NEC meeting of APC held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

He added that NEC, in line with Article 13(2), also transferred its powers to fill other vacant positions to the National Working Committee, NWC of APC.

APC National Legal Adviser, Barrister Mustapha Abubakar later administered oath of allegiance on Ganduje and Basiru to enable them to assume office.

The NEC meeting was the first President Bola Tinubu will be attending since he assumed office on 29, May. 2023.
