Former Governors of Rivers and Kaduna States, Nyesom Wike and Nasir El-Rufai are currently in a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
The duo are ministerial nominees of the president, whose names were forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
While Wike has been confirmed, El-Rufai‘s confirmation has been put on hold by the Senate as he had not been cleared yet by security operatives.
Wike, it was gathered was the first to arrive the State House, shortly after which El-Rufai also arrived and they have been locked in a closed-door meeting with the president.
The meeting might not be unconnected with the Senate’s refusal to confirm El-Rufai’s nomination by the resident.
The senate had on Monday said El-Rufai’s confirmation and two others, Stella Okotete (Delta State), and Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State), had been put on hold. The Senate said the trio were still undergoing security clearance.
