In the past few hours, the possibility of Neymar leaving Paris Saint-Germain to play for Barcelona is gaining strength.
In fact, Marc Marba on La Porteria, claims that his signing is quite imminent after the Blaugrana reached an agreement with German investment for the sale of 16% of Barça Studios. As part of the deal, the team can enter €60 million in the accounts.
The report further goes on to add that an agreement between Neymar and Barcelona is close to being finalised, which would be a major step in the right direction as far as his return is concerned.
Neymar has been told by Luis Enrique’s management that they do not have him in their plans for the 2023-24 season and the best way to gain minutes next season is to find a new team altogether.
Neymar’s ongoing deal with PSG does run until 2025 but the Brazil forward has entirely lost his connection with the board as well as the fans, and Barcelona wish to capitalise on the situation by bringing him back.
They know the player is not wanted at PSG, but his salary will pose a big problem, as it is quoted to be between €30 and €40 million.
Since Barcelona are in no state to assume the record, it is being suggested that Neymar has agreed to forego a large part of his salary and would settle for wages around €12 million per year net, the maximum limit set by the club.
However, despite playing alongside the Brazilian in the past, Xavi is not entirely in favour of the idea of having Neymar on the roster. The simple reason being, he does not was to deter the chemistry of the players.
The manager is of the idea that Neymar just does not fit into his style of play and his attitude could cause problems in the dressing room.
The Barcelona board, however, are entirely in favour of Neymar as they see him as an economic gold mine. They believe that the forward’s return would aid them to get their teetering finances back on track.
With the deal with the German investors set to be made official soon, things with Neymar could pick up pace, meaning Xavi will likely have to come around to the idea of having his former teammate back at the club.
