Deadly wildfires have nearly completely destroyed the historic town of Lahaina, a popular tourist spot and once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
Death toll from the Maui wildfires in the U.S. state of Hawaii reached 93 on Sunday, according to Maui County’s website.
The death toll was 89 earlier on Saturday. The latest death toll has made the wildfire the deadliest in more than a century in modern U.S. history.
It has surpassed the Camp Fire that erupted on Nov. 8, 2018, in California which killed at least 85 people.
Green warned at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon that the number will continue to rise as “hard work is going on.”
