Over 300 AAU students inducted as teachers by TRCN

The Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has inducted 341 students of the Faculty of Education of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo state, into the teaching profession.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of TRCN, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, while performing the oath-taking at the University’s 6th Induction ceremony, charged the students to be quality ambassadors of the University, be core professional teachers, with a view to contributing to the growth and development of education in Nigeria.

Ajiboye who was represented by the Director, Regulation, Accreditation and Enforcement of TRCN, Dr. Okunola Abimbola Hammed, commended the level of training impacted on the inductees by the University, which is expected to be replicated in their dealings as professional teachers.

He described the teaching profession as being critical and germane to the growth of any nation, noting that any error from a teacher affects a generation

He said: “With your induction today, you have been placed on a better standing in the labour market. The teaching profession is a very noble one, extremely important as no nation can grow beyond the quality of its teachers.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the 6th induction ceremony and Acting Vice-Chancellor, of the University, Prof. Asomwan Adagbonyin, enjoined the inductees to be good ambassadors of the University.

Adagbonyin who was represented by the University’s Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Theophilus Agweda, said, “I believe that the training you have received in this University has equipped you to become excellent teachers who must bridge the gap between classrooms and real-life experiences for learners.

“This is a bounden duty because without you, teachers, there will be no sound minds and any society like that is a society in darkness and chaos.”

Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Education, of AAU, Prof Lawrence Aguele said: “Although the session has been a very trying one for both staff and students of the largest Faculty in our great University, it is important to know that it all ended in praise.”
