17 Nigerien soldiers killed in ambush by terrorists

The Nigerien Military has confirmed that 17 of its soldiers were killed by suspected jihadists in an attack the country’s western border with Mali on Tuesday.

Nigerien defence ministry said in a statement that the troops, who were part of army detachment were killed in an ambush by the terrorist near the town of Koutougou”,

According to the statement, 20 soldiers during the attack by the terrorists have been evacuated to the capital Niamey.

It added that more than 100 of the terrorists assailants were “neutralised” during their retreat.
