Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen scored twice on Saturday as Napoli thrashed Frosinone 3-1 away from home in Serie A league opener.
Frosinone grabbed the opener few minutes into the game from Abdou Harroui. He drove the ball low into the right of the net, giving goalkeeper Alex Meret no chance.
Napoli equalised midway into the first half, as Matteo Politano lashed the ball with incredible pace and power from outside the box into the bottom right corner.
Giacomo Raspadori fired a rebound into the roof of the net after the ball broke to him in the box and appeared to have given Napoli the lead, but the referee disallowed the goal.
Few minutes to the end of he first half, Giovanni Di Lorenzo played a neat ball into the path of Osimhen, who made room for a shot and fired in off the crossbar to make it 1-2 for Napoli.
Jaime Baez Stabile produced a thunderbolt of a strike from distance, but his effort rattled the left post in the second half.
The Nigerian striker scored his brace late in the second half. He was set free in the area by Giovanni Di Lorenzo and he made no mistake with a lovely finish into the bottom right corner.
