It was an awful day for Chelsea’s new signings,  Enzo Fernandez and Moisés Caicedo as they combined to wreak the Blues on Sunday against West Ham.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty towards the end of first half and new signing, Enzo was the man to take the kick and it was awful that he missed.

Fernandez sent the penalty towards the left hand side of the goal, but Alphonse Areola pulled off a wonderful save to deny him.

West Ham were awarded a penalty five minutes into added time and guess who caused the penalty, Caicedo, on his debut for Chelsea.

Caicedo gave away a foul for a clumsy challenge. Referee John Brooks saw the whole situation and pointed to the penalty spot which West Ham converted to run away with victory.

Caicedo became the second player to give away a penalty on his Premier League debut for Chelsea, after Wayne Bridge versus Liverpool in August 2003.

The Ecuadorian professional footballer had a poor showing on his debut, coming in as a substitute and played for
37 minutes, losing eight possession, committed two fouls, had one shot off target and had one error which led to the penalty.

BBC captured their performance this way: “Enzo Fernandez misses spot kick, Moises Caicedo gives away penalty on debut. The two most expensive British transfers had an afternoon to forget for Chelsea.”

Chelsea fans singled out the duo as the object of criticism after the match against West Ham.
