Sha'Carri Richardson storms to golden 100m glory in Budapest

Sha’Carri Richardson of the United State of America (USA) has stormed to gold in the Women’s 100m final at the World Athletics championship in Budapest, Hungary.

Richardson ran a time of 10.65 seconds to defeat Shericka Jackson of Jamaica who came second in a time of 10.72 seconds.

Former champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, ran a time of 10.77 seconds to come third in the race.

There was a scare for Richardson in the semi-final, where she came third in a time of 10.84 seconds. She took off late and had to struggle to qualify for the final.

All eyes were on Jackson and Fraser-Pryce as they were old horses in the game, but the American, running in lane nine outwitted them all to strike gold.

In doing so, she set a championship record and the fastest time in women’s 100m this year.
