Sister to the deceased Rebecca Ikulemo who died after Asake’s concert in London has taken to her social media to berate the artist for not consulting the family before using her pictures in tribute at his concert.

The mum-of-two was injured at a crowd crush at Asake’s December concert in London.

Rebecca Ikulemo passed away the next morning following the incident on Thursday outside O2 Academy Brixton as Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter Asake was performing.

Her sister Racheal Ikulemo took to X formerly named Twitter to address the singer saying “What a sorry excuse of a tribute from @asakemusik.

“My sister lost her life at your show and you haven’t spoken to a single member of my family since. But you can hold another concert in London less than 9 months later and play her videos as tribute?”.

Fans supporting Asake replied her that the artist had reached out to the family in a post he shared with the family after the incident where he wrote: “I am devastated by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo who was in a critical condition since Thursday has sadly passed away,” he tweeted.

“My sincerest condolences to her loved ones at this time. Let us please keep her family in our prayers. I have spoken to them and will continue to do so.

I am overwhelmed with grief and could never have imagined anything like this happening.”

Responding to fans defending Asake, Rebecca’s sister said: “My point is, he should not be using her videos or giving a “tribute” without speaking to my family beforehand for consent. I hope you’re getting paid to ride for Asake like this.”
