The planned arraignment of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Ms Sa’adatu Ramallan Yaro, on charges of corruption and conspiracy was again stalled at High Court of Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday

Justice Hamza Muazu had adjourned hearing of the to today, 23, August last week.

However, journalists discovered that the case was not listed on the court’s list at the court of Wednesday.

The suspended CBN governor and his co-defendant, Ms Sa’adatu Ramallan Yaro were also not in court, while heavy security that characterised last week’s hearing of the case was also absent.

Also, lawyers to the defendant not in court.

However, the reason for the failed arraignment cannot be ascertained as at the time of filing in this story.

The Federal Government had last Thursday filed charges bordering an alleged procurement fraud against Emefiele.

Emefiele was to be arraigned alongside Sa’adatu Yaro and her company, April1616 Investment Limited on 20 charges bordering on procurement fraud, conspiracy and conferring corrupt advantages on his associates.

The Federal Government alleged that the suspects procured vehicles and armoured buses, with an estimated total value of ₦6.9 billion.

However, Justice Muazu Hamza, had adjourned the arraignment after the counsel for Yaro told the court that his client was ill,

The prosecution did not oppose the prayer for adjournment.
