Former United States President, Donald Trump is set to surrender self at the Fulton County jail in Georgia over allegation of conspiracy to overturn his electoral defeat in the state.

A grand jury in Georgia had on 15 August, 2023 indicted Trump and 18 allies on state charges stemming from his efforts to overturn his 2020 electoral defeat in the Peach State.

Trump and his 18 others have until noon Friday to voluntarily surrender to authorities after being criminally charged in the state’s 2020 election subversion case.

The Cable News Network (CNN) reports that the former president agreed earlier this week to a $200,000 bond and other release conditions, citing court documents.

Trump is explicitly barred in the bond order from using social media to target the co-defendants and witnesses.

On Wednesday, three of Trump’s key election lawyers, including Rudy Giuliani, surrendered themselves at Fulton County jail.

The Network reports that a federal judge rejected efforts by former Trump’s White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and ex-DOJ official Jeffrey Clark to avoid arrest.

The former president faces 91 charges across four separate criminal cases.

Already, there has been a noticeable increase in Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies as well as members of the public outside the Fulton County Jail in advance of Trump’s surrender on charges.

It is understood that dozens of people gathered had outside the entrance in hot Georgia temperatures largely in support of Trump but some appearing to be in favour of his arrest.
