Nigerian Students have been advised not to be over-dependent on the government at all levels.

An aide to the governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the advice while delivering a lecture at the 10th Anniversary of the National Association of Agricultural Students Representative Cabinet in Abeokuta.

Comrade Olamide Lawal advised that the students should focus more on how to venture into projects that would bring food to their table and that of the nation.

He wondered why graduates of agricultural-related courses still believed in getting office jobs to survive.

Lawal maintained that youths’ over-reliance on white-collar jobs would not guarantee a prosperous future for society, calling on leaders at all levels to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He added that Ogun state has attracted many foreign and local investors with its friendly economic policies since Governor Abiodun assumed office in 2019.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun has shown and displayed it in words and actions that he wants private investments to thrive in Ogun State. All his policies are geared towards ensuring security and prosperity for all business owners,” Lawal said.

” I don’t know why an institution like FUNAAB will be in this state and can’t feed Abeokuta – its host city. FUNAAB and its products should have gone to a level feeding this state.

“That is how to be self-sufficient and that’s what graduates of this institution should focus on and the University must expose their Agricultural students to the economic potentials of their courses,” he emphasised.

During the panel session which had Mr Solomon Enilolobo, Comrade Boluwatife Olayemi, Hon. Mubarak AbdulSalam and the Speaker of the association, Rt Hon. Ayubb Soliu, the need for youths to take their future into their hands was also harped upon.
