Date fixed for Yoruba National Day celebration

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Tayo Ayinde to be honoured at the Yoruba National Day Celebration

Saturday 23 September has been chosen for the Yoruba National Day Celebration.

According to the organisers, in a statement signed by Comrade Awa Bamiji, the event will take place inside Mapo Hall in the ancient City of Ibadan.

The President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, while the 6 governors of the Southwest states are Guests of Honour.

According to Awa Bamiji, President Bola Tinubu, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Mr Tayo Ayinde will be honoured at the event.

Other dignitaries expected are Chief Adebisi Akande, former Interim National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC); General Buba Marwa (Retd), the NDLEA Chairman, and Chief Iyiola Oladokun, former Deputy Governor of Oyo State.

Others are Dr Kunle Olajide, former Secretary, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) and Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, wife of former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, among others.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba (Senator) Dr Olalekan Balogun Ali Okunmade II, are billed to bless the day.
