All international airlines will vacate the old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from October 1, 2023.

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, declared this on Thursday during his tour of the Lagos International Airport.

He was accompanied by the Managing Director, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed.

According to Keyamo, the closure on Nigeria’s Independence Day was to make room for total maintenance work at the old terminal.

The minister also declared the Nigeria Air project to be immediately put on hold.

Also, the concession of Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to Corporacion American Airport Consortium would be on hold until further notice.
