A wanted notorious thug in Kano, Sadiq Ahmad, popularly known as Big Star, has been arrested by the police. The 33-year-old thug had been on wanted list of police for causing life-threatening injuries on one of his victims.

The arrest of the Big Star was announced in a statement by the Kano Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Friday.

In the statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel, Kiyawa said Big Star is currently in custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Command (CID) where a discreet investigation is ongoing.

According to the statement, “as the Kano State Police Command is escalating the hunt for those on the wanted list of unwilling notorious thugs that are hesitant to repent, among them, one Sadiq Ahmad, popularly known as “Big Star”, 33 years old, of Dorayi Karama Quarters Kano, infamously known for terrorizing people within Kano Metropolis has finally fell into the police dragnet.”

“Big Star was trailed and arrested after he used scissors, attacked and inflicted life-threatening injuries on one Abdulrahman Isah, (50) of the same address.

The victim was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he was treated and discharged.

Preliminary investigation so far revealed that the suspect confessed to the violent atrocities he has committed.

The Police further claimed in the statement that the suspect confessed that he was under the influence of drugs while he engaged in all the crimes he was accused of committing.

“I used to be induced with intoxicants and drugs such as Indian Hemp, Diazepam, Exol and Syrup and not in my state of mind,” Big Star was quoted as saying in the statement.

Kiyawa said the suspect will be charged to court once investigation is concluded.

The Statement further stated that: “The Commissioner of Police use this medium to call on the members of the public with useful information that will lead to the arrest of more suspects especially Abba Burakita of Dorayi Karama Quarters Kano and Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu Quarter Kano.

The Commissioner of Police still reiterated N500,000:00 cash bounty he placed on each of their heads still stands.

CP Gumel reiterated his promise of placing N500,000:00 bounty on each of topmost declared thugs for anyone who offers credible information that could lead to their arrest especially Abba Burakita of Dorayi Karama Quarters and Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu Quarters all residents of Kano.

The police boss urged Kano residents to continue rejoicing for the return of peace and be assured of increasing safety and to continue enjoying their uninterrupted sleep with two eyes closed.
