Speaking with Sky Sports after the fight, Eubank said “It had to be, I had no other choice. There are too many fights out there that I want to be in. Liam is a warrior, I respect him and his whole team. He didn’t give up and he fought to the last second.
“I’m not going to lie. What happened tonight was supposed to happen in January. I trained hard, the focus is always there and I dedicate my life to this sport. I see the names ringside. I’m coming for you Conor [Benn], I’m coming for you Kell [Brook].”
On dealing with the January loss, he said “The weight had nothing to do with it. It just wasn’t my night. I’m not a pretender. I’m turning a few people round on the journey.”

On his next fight, he said: “I want to fight GGG [Gennady Golovkin]. I don’t know where he is right now, but wherever you are, I want to take one of those belts.”
