American teenager Coco Gauff made a short work of Latvian Jelena Ostapenko Tuesday, recording a stunning victory, including a bagel to storm into the US Open semi-final.
Tennis buffs who were expecting a tough match, after Ostapenko beat World No.1 Iga Swatiek in the fourth round, were surprised when the first set ended 6-0 in favour of Gauff. This was concluded in just 20 minutes.
It was as if Gauff was playing an Ostapenko ghost.
In the second set Gauff again dominated the Latvian, clinching it 6-2.
The whole match lasted just 50 minutes.
With the victory, Gauff recorded her first US Open Semi Final and her 2nd Grand Slam Semi Final.
She is the first US teenager in a US Open Semi Final since Serena Williams in 2001.
She also revenged her loss to Ostapenko in the fourth round at the Australian Open in January this year.
