Ebonyi delegates understudy Lagos DSVA

A delegation from the Ebonyi State Government paid a visit to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Novel House Office in Alausa.

The purpose of their visit was to gain insights into the accomplishments, programmes, structure, and operations of the agency with the aim of implementing similar measures to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Ebonyi State.

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, extended a warm welcome to the visiting team and commended the Ebonyi State Government for taking proactive steps to address the prevalent issue of SGBV, not only in Lagos but also on a global scale.

She emphasised that DSVA’s success had been made possible through the unwavering support of the Lagos State Government, especially Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion through initiatives like “Themes Plus.”

Mrs. Vivour-Adeniyi stressed the importance of a coordinated approach and partnerships with other relevant agencies, including the police, NGOs, the Judiciary, and sister Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, in the battle against SGBV.

The delegation from Ebonyi State consisted of high-ranking officials from the GBV Task Force, representing various government bodies such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the National Obstetric Fistula Centre, the GBV clinic, and Women Affairs and Social Development.

Mr. Austin Onwe, the team lead and GENSI Advisor from USAID-IHP TO6 Ebonyi, expressed the primary purpose of their visit: to learn from the DSVA, seek clarifications through questions, and explore ways to enhance the existing modalities in place in Ebonyi State.

On behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Faithvin Nwanchor, Coordinator of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Taskforce in Ebonyi State, expressed gratitude to the DSVA team for their invaluable insights and shared expertise.
