Soludo hails Tinubu over appointments to Southeast

Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State said the appointment of the former governor Dave Umahi as Minister of Works indicated that President Bola Tinubu did not consider the voting pattern in the 2023 general elections in constituting his cabinet.

Soludo who spoke when he received Umahi at Government’s House, Awka at the weekend noted that “the Ministry of Works to Southeast is huge”.

According to Soludo, Tinubu’s allocation of portfolio to a Southeast was not in tandem with the popular saying in politics that what you get in politics is dependent on your alignment in terms of votes.

According to Soludo, the Southeast did not have the right to demand “juicy” portfolios because of the amount of votes he secured by Tinubu in the region during the presidential election.

“But, the President graciously gave us one of our finest and best, one of the few engineers who pioneered concrete pavement as the current standard for road construction,” The Nation newspaper quoted the governor as saying.

” Nigeria is a federation. You cannot stay in your state, clap with one hand and expect noise. You need the other hand, which is the federal government, for things to work.”

“With you, Engr. Umahi in office, you are a perfect round peg in a round hole. Please, keep showing your leadership,” said Soludo who added that Tinubu has been fair to the Southeast Southeast geo-political zone in terms of appointment
