JUST IN: Ondo Assembly moves to impeach Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State House of Assembly has begun impeachment process against the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for alleged gross misconduct.

Aiyedatiwa has fallen apart with the Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. The governor recently sacked his media aide.

At an emergency plenary meeting on Wednesday, the House directed the Clerk, Benjamin Jaiyeola to write Aiyedatiwa over allegations levelled against him.

It was learnt that 22 out of the 26 members of the Assembly have signed the petition against the Aiyedatiwa.

Today’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, the House had accused the Deputy Governor of approving the sum of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof SUV for his personal use.

Tight security was experienced at the Assembly on Wednesday as the lawmakers were meeting to strategise on how to impeach the deputy governor.
