Liverpool’s bid to move top of the English Premier League suffered a blow on Saturday as they lost 1-2 at Tottenham.

Liverpool ended the game with nine men after they got two red cards, pegging them at the back to defend.

Sign of bad things for the visitors was when Curtis Jones got a red card for a terrible challenge on 26th minute.

With the red card, Tottenham mounted the pressure and were rewarded on 36 minutes with an opening goal.

Richarlison produced a good pass and picked out Heung-Min Son inside the box. He quickly took a shot which went into the middle of the net and left the goalkeeper helpless.

Liverpool responded on first half added time. Virgil van Dijk met a cross inside the box and headed the ball across the goal, where Cody Gakpo lurked and poked it into the back of the net.

Things got worse for Liverpool, when Diogo Jota was sent off for foul, after a second yellow card.

An own-goal on added time condemned Liverpool to defeat. It was a pitiful moment for Joel Matip, who tried to clear a cross into the six-yard box but instead sent the ball behind his own keeper to give Tottenham 2-1 lead and all three points.
