Commuters boarding the green and white coloured long buses plying the Lekki and Ajah routes from CMS bus stop, Lagos Island, Lagos have commended the management of the Taxi and Motors (T&M), the operators of the green and white coloured long and minibuses for charging commuters affordable fares despite the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the country.

This gesture, they said has enabled them to go to their places of work daily.

Some of those who spoke with PM NEWS at the T&M motor park, CMS Bus Stop said that they decided to speak out about the humane manners with which the management of the Taxi and Motors (T&M) is touching the lives of commuters in the area.

This shows that there are still patriotic, honest and transparent Nigerians who can still help fellow human beings even in the face of a harsh economic situation.

They also praised the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu for his magnanimity in slashing the BRT transport fare by 50 per cent to cushion the effects of subsidy removal, urging other transport operators to emulate the kind gesture of Gov Sanwo–Olu and the management of T&M in their efforts at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians at this trying time.

They appealed to the Government at all levels, financial institutions, and corporate bodies to assist T&M managers with soft loans for them to purchase more buses to cope with the huge number of passengers boarding vehicles at the park due to the very affordable fares being charged.

According to Mr. Jide Jimoh, a commuter, “I am appealing to the government, financial institutions and investors to help the T&M managers with loans to purchase more buses for their operations because the affordable fares are touching the lives of the commuters positively.

Speaking with PM NEWS about the operations of the T&M motors, the Public Relations Officer, PRO, Mr Yusuf Issa Lanre thanked the commuters boarding buses at the T&M parks for their patronage and cooperation.

He said, “We decided to be collecting N400 fare from passengers at a loss as part of our little way to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal just as Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu did by slashing the fare of BRT by 50 per cent to help Nigerians at this trying time.

“We are currently operating with about 20 long buses and they are not enough to cope with the huge number of passengers trooping inside our park to board vehicles.

“That is why I am now appealing to the government, Financial institutions, corporate bodies and private investors to come to our aid and grant us loans to purchase more buses for our operations or come and invest in the transportation business with us for transparent and honest profit making.”
