Newcastle United thrashed PSG 4-1 on Wednesday at the St. James’ Park Stadium to move top of Group F in the Champions League.

PSG, favourite to scale through the Group of death, capitulated in UK as the homers were clinical and led 3-0 before PSG pulled one back.

Newcastle opened scoring on 17 minutes. Miguel Almiron was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low inside the left post.

The homers scored the second goal six minutes to end the first half. Dan Burn jumped highest to connect with a perfect cross from Bruno Guimaraes and planted his close-range header into the top of the net.

Few minutes after the break, Newcastle made it 3-0. A great through ball by Kieran Trippier set up Sean Longstaff inside the box, and he made no mistake and bang the ball low into the middle of the goal.

Warren Zaire-Emery handed Lucas Hernandez the simplest of tasks from close range after the cross evaded the keeper, and he made no mistake with his header into the bottom right corner to make it 3-1.

A minute into added time, Newcastle made it 4-1. A great link up play between Fabian Schar and Jacob Murphy gave the former a clear sight of goal on the edge of the box. He did not disappoint and beat the keeper in the top right corner.
