Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), counsel of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been hired by the sacked Kano State governor Abba Yusuf to reclaim his mandate.
Abba Yusuf belongs to the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP), while Tinubu belongs to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
According to a report by Daily Trust, Olanipekun and his firm, Wole Olanipekun & Co will lead the charge to reclaim Yusuf’s mandate at the Court of Appeal.
Yusuf was sacked by Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal last month on grounds that about 650,000 ballots counted for him were not stamped, signed and dated by INEC officials.
The tribunal then went to declared Abba Yusuf’s opponent, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election.
Yusuf has now filed a 42-ground of appeal, asking the court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal and also striking out the petition of the APC.
Also on the legal team of the governor are Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru and Akintola Makinde.
Chief E.O.B. Offiong remains the counsel for the APC candidate.
