Scott McTominay scored two goals in stoppage-time on Saturday as Manchester United came back from the dead to defeat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford.
United have endured a torrid start to the season, including losing three of their six games at Old Trafford this season – having gone 31 games unbeaten at home before their loss to Brighton.
United were heading for another shocking defeat when McTominay, who came in as a substitute on 87th minute, scored two goals within three minutes during stoppage-time to carry the day and sent the stadium into frenzy jubilation.
Brentford opened scoring on 26 minutes to silence United’s supporters at Old Trafford. Mathias Jensen got a shot away from inside the box and the effort was deflected past the goalkeeper.
A goal, which was scored by McTominay a minute to duration was disallowed due to offside after VAR check.
Four minutes into added time, United equalised. McTominay was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low inside the left post.
Three minutes later, a nice headed pass by Harry Maguire found McTominay, who latched on to it and put the ball into the back of the net with a fine header.
