Flamengo, the renowned Brazilian football club, announced on Monday that former player Tite will assume the role of head coach.

Tite, aged 62, who departed from the Brazilian national team following their quarter-final exit at the World Cup in Qatar last year, will succeed Jorge Sampaoli.

In an official statement, Flamengo declared that Tite “arrives to take charge of the team in the final stretch of the ‘Brasileirao’ and throughout next year’s season.”

Tite boasts an impressive coaching career in Brazil, having previously managed various prominent clubs, including Corinthians, where he secured the Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup titles in 2012.

His managerial journey also includes stints with Gremio, Atletico Mineiro, and Palmeiras.

Flamengo currently occupies the fifth position in the Brazilian top-flight league after 26 matches. Their upcoming challenge is against Cruzeiro on October 19.

Jorge Sampaoli’s departure came in the wake of Flamengo’s failure to defend their Brazilian Cup title, as they suffered a defeat to Sao Paulo in the finals.
