The Super Eagles of Nigeria ended their five years winless run in international friendly matches as they defeated 10-man Mozambique 3-2 on Monday.

The Eagles conceded an early goal, as Mozambique opened scoring on 6th minute through a goal scored by Geny Catamo.

The Super Eagles equalised on 19th minute after mounting pressure on the Mozambique  defence. Terem Moffi scored the goal to make it 1-1.

Frank Onyeka made it 2-1 for the Nigerian side on 30 minutes after pouncing on a loose ball just at the edge of the box and fired home.

Things got worse for Mozambique as Edmison Dove was issued a red card on 38 minute.

The Eagles made it 3-1 from the penalty box on first half added time. Moses Simon won the battle of wits and sent the ball into the net.

Faisal Bangal scored Mozambique’s second goal 10 minutes into the second half to make it 3-1.

With four minutes added time after 90 minutes, the Super Eagles held off the East Africans to earn their first victory in a friendly match since a 1-0 win over Egypt in March 2019.
