The Wife of Zamfara Governor, Hajiya Hurriya Lawal, on Saturday, expressed dismay over the dilapidated state of the Government Girls’ Arabic Secondary School, Gusau, saying, “It is unacceptable.”

Lawal, who was on an assessment tour of the school, said education was one of Gov. Dauda Lawal-led administration’s top priorities.

The school was among the several secondary schools shut by the immediate past administration because of security challenges.

The governor’s wife said, “I am happy with this visit. I can see the condition of this school and I have listened to the Principal’s presentation.

“I noticed a lot of challenges, especially the issues of electricity, lack of vehicles, absence of matrons and health workers and general dilapidation of the students’ hostels, among others.

“This is unacceptable, we cannot continue to allow schools for our children to continue to be closed”, she said.
