The body of the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Hon. Muhammed Danasabe Muhammed, was laid to rest amid tears at the Anguwan Kura burial ground on Friday.
Sympathisers were seen in their hundreds, especially women weeping on the loss of the prominent APC member.
Muhammed, who still campaigned in Lokoja on Thursday, was buried today around 2pm immediately after the Jummat prayer.
Governor Yahaya Bello was also present at the Lojoka Central Mosque to pay his last respect to the dead.
The governor arrived at the mosque around 1:30 and joined the crowd to pray for the dead.
After the prayer, the corpse of Muhammed was taken immediately to Anguwan Kura burial ground.
Speaking to PM News, Abubakar Mohammed, who is the media aide to the late Chairman, stated that he was still in shock over the death of his principal.
He said: “We spoke on Thursday morning and he asked about the report I am suppose to give to him. He gave me his location and I was planning to go and submit the report but unfortunately that was the last conversation between us.”
Abubakar further described his principal as “an humanitarian” and a man committed to every of his duties.
“He is a result oriented individual, he is always ensuring he unites people. That’s the sign you are seeing. The whole state is mourning not just his local government,” the media aide stated.
A family member also told PM News that: “He (Muhammed Danasabe) campaigned here yesterday around 4pm. In fact, he promised to donate to people today but this morning we got the shocking news of his death. It is extremely painful but God knows best.”
