INEC must cancel election in 5 Kogi LGs, Melaye demands

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governorship candidate in Kogi, Dino Melaye has demanded cancellation of election in five Local Government Areas in the State.

One of the Local Governments Melaye wants the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel election is Okene, which has been won by a landslide by the All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate, Usman Ododo.

The PDP’s candidate, in a tweet listed other councils as Okehi, Ajaoukuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo.

He described the elections in those areas as a scam coordinated from the highest level of INEC.

Melaye wrote: “INEC must cancel the election in the 5 local governments of Kogi central. The election in Okene, Okehi, Ajaoukuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo is a scam coordinated from the highest level of INEC.”

Earlier, Melaye, won his polling unit in Ayetoro-Gbede.

According to results announced at his unit, Dino scored over 210 votes while APC’s candidate Ahmed Ododo got only 22 votes.

Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came a distant third with 7 votes.

Below is the result announced at Melaye’s polling unit.

APC – 22
PDP – 210
SDP – 1
PRP – 2
NRM – 1
ADP – 1
ADC – 7

Meanwhile, the polling unit recorded a low voter turnout as 252 voters were accredited out of 819 registered voters.

Dino Melaye and his followers also boycotted the exercise.

According to Dino, the outcome of the governorship election has been predetermined.
