Concerned motorists and bus drivers passing through the P & T and Obalende roundabout, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria to their various destinations have commended members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Ikoyi-Obalende branch for their exemplary display of discipline, maturity and civility in traffic management and control at the P & T and Obalende Roundabout.

They also praised the union for the enforcement of no illegal parking to ensure the free flow of traffic in the area to enable motorists to get to their places of work on time.

Some of those who spoke with P.M.NEWS at Obalende about the traffic management efforts of the Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW members said that they decided to speak out to let other NURTW members in Lagos know that Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW members are doing a good job in traffic management in Obalende and its environs and for them to emulate and replicate same at their various motor parks to ensure free flow of traffic in Lagos metropolis.

According to Mr. Sunday Odijie, a bus driver, “I thank the Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW members and their branch chairmen for rebranding the Lagos State NURTW with the way they are managing traffic and enforcing no illegal parking which has led to a free flow of traffic at the P & T and Obalende roundabout in recent times unlike before.

“I commend the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW Lagos Council, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya a.k.a Olu omo for sanitizing NURTW operations in Lagos State and instilling discipline in members for them to serve the public better, Odigie stated.

Mr. Rasaki Akiode, a motorist, thanked the Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW leaders for their traffic management efforts at Obalende as he never believed Obalende could be free of traffic gridlock.

He added that Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW members were responsive, responsible and disciplined with the way they were managing traffic at Obalende.

“I am now calling on other NURTW members in Lagos State to emulate the Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW members in traffic management so as to move Lagos to greater heights,” Akiode appealed.

When P.M.NEWS visited Obalende on Tuesday morning, NURTW members were seen in their traffic management jackets with the inscriptions Ikoyi-Obalende NURTW branch A and B controlling traffic to the delight of motorists and passersby as traffic was moving freely.

Efforts to see the branch chairmen for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
