Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State was on Monday declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the State, having polled majority votes.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Of Technology, Minna, Niger State, said Diri, having polled the majority of votes and satisfied the requirement of the law, is now declared elected.
Diri polled 175,196 votes to defeat Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored with 110,108 votes to come second and Udengs Eradiri of the Labour Party (LP), who got 905 votes.
