Recently, Jagun Jagun, a Netflix original movie was released by Femi Adebayo, while it received critical acclaim and also broke some records, the fans have also raved about the soundtracks used in the film production.
One of the personnel behind the production is Aluko Damilola better known as Adam Songbird, the Lagos State-born film composer and designer who has already made his mark in the movie industry.
These are five things you need to know about the film composer and sound designer.
5. Adam Songbird is a Singer-Songwriter and Sound Designer
Apart from composing songs in movies, Adam Songbird also sings, writes songs and designs sounds for movies. In March 2022, he released a five-track extended play “No Strings Attached,” which featured the likes of Wati and Wale Waves. There are also covers of songs on his social media handles. Long before his sojourn in the movie world, Adam Songbird was already performing in concerts and shows.
4. His first movie experience was with Saheed Balogun:
Over a decade ago, Adam Songbird met Saheed Balogun at a studio in Lagos State, he was impressed with his sonic exploits. This admiration led to a working relationship that resulted in Adam Songbird contributing to the groundbreaking movie “Eti Keta.”
3. He is heavily influenced by Reggae, Afrobeat, and Gospel Music.
The artiste has never hidden an interest in root Reggae and Gospel. The smithereens from these two music genres are all scattered in his music. No wonder when he sings, he goes deep and articulates soul-searching words.
2. His sonic prowess led to artiste giving him the name Adam Songbird.
Years ago, Adam Songbird is a songwriter and served as an inspiration for a lot of artistes. In the course of writing and recording music in the studio, the artiste comes to their rescue by giving them lyrics, offering them new flow patterns and sometimes helping them to pick the right instrumental. This sonic exploit didn’t go unnoticed as the artiste started referring to him as a songbird, this was due to his versatility as an artiste.

In 2023, Adam Songbird was nominated twice for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for King of Thieves and Battle on Buka Street in the “Best Soundtrack,” category.
