Nigeria national team player and Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi has revealed that he is keen to play at the World Cup again.

According to the 27-year-old who made his first World Cup appearance in Russia in 2018, his desire to play at the 2026 edition to be hosted by USA, Mexico, and Canada is not about him.

“I would like to be there again, it’s not about me, everyone is ready to qualify and represent the nation,” Iwobi told the Super Eagles media.

“Everyone is in camp and we are ready, it’s a blessing that we have many players and we are ready to go”, he said.

Super Eagles bowed out in the group stage after 208 World Cup appearance in Russia. Iwobi and his teammates were denied a place in the 2022 World Cup finals by eternal rivals, Ghana.

The Super Eagles will open their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against the Likuena of Lesotho on Thursday.
