Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has granted a four-year full scholarship to 100 students of Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin, in Kwara State.

Saraki also donated projects worth millions of naira towards the infrastructural development of the institution on Saturday at the official commissioning of the private university owned by the Ansar-ul-Islam Society of Nigeria.

According to a statement by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, N140 million was donated towards the four-year full scholarship of 100 student beneficiaries, while another donation of N26 million was made to provide different facilities in the university.

“As a bona fide son of Ilorin, Baba Adini of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, and the Waziri Ngeri of the Ilorin Emirate, this project is personal to me.

“This commissioning is a great project for every son and daughter of the Emirate, not only for the legacy of Sheikh Kamalud-Deen but for what we can do as Ilorin Emirate community,” Saraki said.

He further asserted: “It is a project for society, and that’s why it’s our project. That is why I have been playing my role since it started in 2005 until today.”

The university was founded by the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin and founder of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adaby.
