The Rivers Police Command has urged wanted cult gang kingpin, Gift David Okpara, aka 2Baba, to come out from hiding to justify his claim that he was innocent of allegations of murder of SP Bako Angbashim, former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Police Division in Rivers State for which he was declared wanted.

The Police Command said this in reaction to recent claims by 2Baba in audio notes sent to some radio stations that he was innocent of the allegation of leading his gang members to kill Angbashim for which he was declared wanted by the Rivers State Government and the Police with N101 million bounty on his head.

The Police, in a statement signed by SP Grace Iringe-Koko the spokesperson of Rivers Command: “Police understand the importance of listening to the other party, and it is crucial to note that everyone is considered innocent until proven otherwise. As such, the Rivers State Police Command urges Gift David Okpara, aka 2Baba, to come forward and submit himself to the authorities, providing the opportunity to present evidence that could support his claims of innocence”.

“The Police are committed to upholding the principles of due process and are open to receiving any information that can aid in the ongoing investigation. It is imperative for Gift David Okpara to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a thorough and transparent resolution to this serious matter.

Our Correspondent reports that in the last 48 hours, 2Baba has been calling into a Port Harcourt-based radio station denying involvement in the murder of SP Angbashim and other criminal activities like armed robberies, kidnappings, Cultism and others.
