The University of Port Harcourt has announced the promotion 43 senior academics to the rank of professor.
They were considered suited to benefit from the new round of promotion in the institution.
The new development was made public through a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Samuel Kpenu. He said 22 other senior academics were promoted to the rank of associate professor (reader).
It stated that the promotion was sequel to the approval by the Minister of Education on Friday, December 8, 2023.
There had been an earlier meeting at the University of Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 23, 2023, where the newly promoted academics were recommended.
A breakdown of the promotions showed that the Faculty of Science got 10 new professors while the Faculty of Education got 10. The Faculty of CHS got eight new professors while the Faculty of Humanities got seven. The Faculty of Agriculture got three new Professors.
