Nigerian international Victor Osimhen scored a goal and set up another as his club, Napoli defeated Cagliari 2-1 in a Serie ‘A’ match on Saturday.
Osimhen, who recently won the African Footballer Award of the Year, opened the scoring midway into the second half.
Mario Rui produced a beautiful lofted cross into the box where Osimhen rose high to head the ball off the woodwork into the right side of the goal to make it 1-0 for Napoli.
Cagliari equalised three minutes later after superb work from Zito Luvumbo, who played a vital role in the build-up. He squared it to Leonardo Pavoletti, who beat Alex Meret with a brilliant shot into the top of the net.
In the 74th minute, the ball rebounded out to Matteo Politano, whose shot from the edge of the box went a whisker wide of the right post.
A minute later, Osimhen was in a good shooting position, but he saw his teammate and passed the ball to him.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia took the ball nicely and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot which bounced in off the left post to make the score 2-1.
A minute to the end of the match, Tommaso Augello found the head of Alberto Dossena with a clever free kick, and he crashed in a powerful close-range header at goal that just flew over the bar.
