The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, Christ the King Cathedral, in Kaduna State, has honoured controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
He was honoured alongside and Pastor Yohanna Buru, for promoting religious harmony and tolerance among the people.
The Pastor of the church, Christopher Solomon, said Gumi and Buru were chosen for honour because of their contributions to humanity and their dedicated efforts towards peace.
“Their efforts in promoting religious tolerance and fostering better understanding have played a significant role in mitigating religious extremism and attacks among adherents of different faith-based organisations”, Solomon said.
Gumi has been known to make controversial statements. He once said bandits who engage in abductions of innocent citizens were not malevolent elements but “victims of neglect over the years”.
He recently in a sermon, attacked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike as being a Satanic person for hosting the Isreali Ambassador. He said there was a plan to make Abuja an extension of Tel Aviv. He also attacked President Bola Tinubu.
His remarks were condemned by not a few Nigerians including elders from the northern part of Nigeria.
