Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, has gifted participants of her cooking class a car and millions of naira.
The chef had organised the cooking class — with a fixed registration fee — to teach interested Nigerians how to prepare unique dishes.
The training ended with a prize-giving ceremony wherein participants were gifted a car, money, gadgets, kitchen appliances and foodstuffs.
The event held at The Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos brought together students of the Christmas Cooking Class, Nigerian celebrities, and aspiring chefs.
The evening started with a prayer session and opening speech by Bolaji Idowu, Lead pastor at Harvesters International Pentecostal Church.
The event, hosted by social media influencers Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Tomike Adeoye, was attended by notable personalities, including Veekee James, Dremo Drizzy, Nasboi, Kagan Tech, Chef Gibbs, Nonye Udeogu, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, AMA Reginald, amongst others.
The event was packed with fun activities, including a live cooking competition supervised by Chef Gibbs, eating and dancing competitions, a “mimic Hilda “ game, and eventually, live artist performances by Dremo, Nasboi, and Gillian Baci, respectively, to close the event.
The highlight was the grand prize of a Brand New 2017 Hyundai car, awarded to Chef Essy Tamara, winner of the Christmas Menu Class. Other prizes include 12 million naira cash, Home appliances, cooking utensils and new-model Apple gadgets.
A lucky winner was also awarded a year’s supply of GB food products.
In a post via her Instagram page on Tuesday, Baci shared photos of the winners from the event.
The chef congratulated Essy, the chef who won the car prize, and other students who took home various prizes at the event.
Baci said she is grateful for the “ability to make positive impact” with her knowledge and expertise.
“It has been such an incredible journey from my first online cooking class 2 years ago to now this 10th class,” she said.
“God has been faithful. Making a positive impact with the knowledge I have been blessed with is certainly one of God’s purpose for me.
“And I am grateful for the guidance of the Holy Spirit thus far, his grace indeed is sufficient for me and all that concerns me and that includes my wonderful students and staff.
“Big congratulations to @chef.essy for emerging winner of the car, and many congratulations to all the amazing winners of the moneys, phones, and kitchen appliances.”
Baci gained fame for her record-breaking cooking marathon in May.
However, she was dethroned by Alan Fisher, an Irish chef, who surpassed her record in November.
The Christmas Menu Class by Hilda Baci was supported by Gino, Gino Max, Bama, Woodscope, Aquafina, and Viva Detergent Plus.
