The Lagos State Government on Wednesday pulled out 14 retired permanent secretaries from the civil service in an elaborate ‘Pens Down Ceremony.’

Speaking at the event held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, in Ikeja, the Head of Service (HoS), Bode Agoro, said the 14 retired permanent secretaries had been found worthy in recognition of their commendable service and record of outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the State Public Service.

He saluted their doggedness, commitment, dedication, loyalty and untold sacrifices throughout their Public Service career, and for the good working relationship they exhibited while they were in service.

“To those who retired voluntarily due to appointment in a higher capacity, Agoro admonished them to endeavour to redouble their efforts and commitments to make more unprecedented
achievements in their new roles and make the State Public Service proud as its ambassadors.

The HoS implored them to be more deliberate in paying attention to their health and wellness, reminding them that the Post Service Department in the Public Service Office was established to attend to issues concerning Lagos State Public Service retirees.

“Therefore, kindly ensure that you avail yourselves of the services of this very active
Department, as and when necessary,” he said.

Agoro opined that the retirees would now have time for themselves and their entire families as they would be able to deploy their skills, wide knowledge and extensive administrative and management experience garnered over the years to continue to add value to themselves, their communities and to Lagos State in general.

He added that the retirees were free to associate themselves as the latest members of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Lagos State (ALARHOSPS), as the government continues to look forward to benefiting from their vast reservoirs of information in formulating and implementing public policies to move the State forward.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Bamgboye Abiodun, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for allowing them to serve, just as he advised those still in active service not to look back but ensure they contribute their quota to improve the lot of the state and humanity.
