Chibok first got the world’s attention in April 2014 when Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Government Girls Secondary School located there, and abducted over 300 students.

Some Boko Haram terrorists have on Tuesday evening, stormed  Chibok in Borno State, killing two persons and causing injury to others.

The terrorists reportedly started attacking around 7 pm by shooting rapidly, a development which made many residents flee their homes in a stampede. The terrorists were said to have burnt homes and looted food items.

The locals said two people died though the number could be higher than that. But the Borno Police Command said the attackers were swiftly repelled by a joint team of the military, the police and the local vigilante.

“The attack was repelled by the joint effort of the military and the police. Unfortunately, two persons were killed – one of the deceased, named Mr. Badi, aged 75, and one Ngule, aged 45, died during the attack. However, the situation has since returned to normal,”  said the police spokesman, Nahum Kenneth.
