The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has joined the world in mourning the unexpected death of Zahara, the late South African music star, recognizing her lasting influence on the worldwide music stage.

Zahara, known for her soul-stirring voice and mesmerizing performances, was acknowledged by President and Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, who expressed sadness over her death.

Dada highlighted Zahara‘s profound mark on the African music landscape, emphasizing her ability to transcend boundaries and connect with music enthusiasts globally.

Renowned as a multi-award-winning artiste, Zahara, whose real name was Bulelwa Mkutukana, was praised by Dada for her musical prowess, emotive vocals, and captivating stage presence.

Her journey was hailed as a testament to talent, resilience, and the capacity to transcend cultural barriers through music’s universal language, according to Dada.

“AFRIMA mourns the loss of this remarkable artiste; we stand in solidarity with the global music community in paying tribute to Zahara’s extraordinary life and musical legacy,” stated Dada.

“Beyond accolades and achievements, Zahara’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her music, becoming anthems of hope, love, and resilience for a diverse audience”, Lekunutu Seboko, AFRIMA’s Country Director in South Africa emphasized.

Seboko praised Zahara’s emotional lyrics and soulful delivery, acknowledging their resonance with audiences well beyond South Africa’s borders.

Zahara’s legacy, Seboko noted, extended beyond accolades, describing her as a cultural ambassador whose work promoted unity and appreciation for Africa’s musical heritage.

The All Africa Music Awards is known as the pinnacle of African music globally.
