Governor Yahaya Bello has presented 40 sport utility vehicles, SUVs, and Hilux vans to members of the Kogi State House of Assembly and judges in the state.
He also presented 25 ambulances to local governments and three brand-new fire fighting vans to the state’s Fire Service in Lokoja.
The presentations were done at a loud ceremony held at Muhammadu Buhari Square, MBS, Lokoja on Friday.
At the event, the Governor noted that the commissioning of the medical and safety infrastructures including vehicles for the other two arms of government is in fulfilment of his promise to the good people of Kogi state.
He said the ambulances which would be for all the local government areas of the state were mobile operation theatres and hospitals, adding that they are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
The governor said the vehicles for the legislature and judiciary were a strong reflection of a cordial relationship between all the arms of government and the desire for them to perform their duties to the best of their abilities and under favourable conditions of mobility.
He said the fire trucks were also necessary safety infrastructures that would track emergency responses in times of first outbreaks and other disasters.
He thanked the people of the state for the privilege to serve them while he assured them that his successor and Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo would do much more for the people.
Chief Judge of the State, Justice Josiah Majebi said that the governor has truly shown that he is a friend of the judiciary.
He added that the governor has made it easy for him to accomplish his target as the Chief Judge, noting that Governor Bello’s concern for their wellbeing as well as a free and fair judicial arm is phenomenal.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf lauded the governor for demonstrating unwavering commitment to the welfare of the members of other arms of government.
He noted that the distribution of utilities for the judiciary and legislative arms of government is among many of Governor Bello-led administration’s implementation of a comprehensive welfare program for these other two arms.
He noted that the government recently ensured the creation of a conducive legislative environment, noting that the governor’s leadership serves as a model for other states.
Giving his goodwill message, the state commissioner for health, Dr Usman Zakari commended the governor for the ambulances. He also disclosed that the government employed over 3,000 healthcare professionals to fill in empty gaps in medical services while also venturing into the rehabilitation of zonal hospitals, and specialist hospitals and building other hospitals from scratch.
