Bye-Elections: PDP sells senate nomination form for N3.5m

The Peoples Democratic Party has announced that its nomination for members intending to contest in the primary for the senatorial bye-election will sell for N3.5 million.

The party says that of the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly forms will go for N2.5 million and N600,000, respectively.

This follows the approval of a timetable for conducting bye-elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The bye-elections are to fill the vacant seats left by  members of the National and State Houses of Assembly who died or resigned.

The PDP on Tuesday released its own timetable in a statement signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.  The schedule shows that notice of primary election and congresses to state chapters will begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. But the sale of nomination, expression of interest and delegates forms will begin on Thursday, December 28, 2023, and end on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

“Please note that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are to pay for nomination forms only.

“Youths (male/female) below 40 years are to purchase Expression of Interest forms, but with a 50% discount on nomination forms.

“Please, contact the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja for further details on how to purchase the forms,” the statement said.
