Bye-elections: LP pegs senate form at N5m, House of Reps N3

Aspirants for the senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly tickets of the Labour Party in the February 3, 2024 bye-elections will pay N5 million, N3 million and N1.5 million respectively to obtain the forms.

National Secretary of the Labour Party, Umar Ibrahim, said this while announcing the timetable of the party for the February 3 bye-elections.

According to the timetable and schedule of activities for the contestants into Senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assemblies seats released by Labour Party, the collection of the forms will commence on December 28, 2023 and will end on January 4, 2024.

The primaries will be held on January 7, 2024.

The fees for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as expressed by the Labour Party respectively were as follows: Senate N1.5m and N3.5m; House of Reps. N1m and N2m; and House of Assembly N100,000 and N500,000.

However, female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD) aspirants were exempted from payment of fees for the Expression of Interest Forms only.

INEC had fixed February 3, 2024, for the conduct of by-elections, resulting from the resignation and death of members of the National and State Houses of Assembly.

The election will be conducted across two Senatorial Districts, four Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies spanning nine States of the Federation.
