Songs by Nigerian Afrobeats stars were included in former President of the United States of America Barack Obama’s favorite music of 2023 list.

The songs are ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys, ‘Amapiano’ by Asake featuring Olamide, ‘Me & U’ by Tems, and ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage.

South African singer, Tyla’s ‘Water’ was also included in the list released by the former US President on Friday.

The list featured music from around the world, including Latino, pop, Afrobeats, Hip-hop, Grime, Reggaeton, Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, and Soul.

Sharing the list via his X handle, Obama wrote, “Here are some of my favourite songs from this year. Let me know if there are any artists or songs I should check out.”

Burna Boy and Ayra Starr were previously included in Obama’s 2023 summer playlist with ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ and ‘Sability’.

Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ also made the cut in his 2022 annual list, and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ made Obama’s 2022 end-of-the-year playlist.

Other Nigerians who have been featured on Obama’s playlists include Wizkid, Rema, and Tems.
